When this game was introduced in 1983, it was a sensational flop. It was the first and last time you would see the character Stanley. All through the years Donkey Kong, Mario, Princess and even Luigi have made its way into hundreds of Nintendo games, but no Stanley. He lived and died back in the day, and now he lives again in my gameroom.

This game was picked up at a Super Auctions quite some time ago. It had full Donkey Kong 3 sideart and worked pretty good. Unfortunately it had to make way for some original Donkey Kong action. I took all the Donkey Kong 3 parts out, wrapped everything up carefully for some future time, and turned it into a Donkey Kong.

Recently, I acquired an original Donkey Kong cabinet which had been converted into an Eight ball. I converted back that game into a Donkey Kong again, and well the Donkey Kong 3 became its old self again. I never sold the old Donkey Kong 3 parts I had just for that reason. It isn't that Donkey Kong 3 wasn't getting any love, it just had to make way for its bigger, older brother for awhile. That's just the way it is.

In the end I'm pretty happy having the Donkey Kong 3 back in my collection. It now completes the perfect trifecta of Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Junior and Donkey Kong 3. Viva La Kong!
