Now my Elevator Action was the deal of the century and I didn't even know I wanted one. So I answered an ad on Craigslist for a broken Lee Trevino's
fighting golf for $25. I had a spare monitor and was needing an empty cabinet so I picked this thing up. I got it home and discovered that the kill
switches for the power were loose and open. This meant no power to the machine. I fixed the problem and everything fired right up. Good news was the
monitor worked with only a minor vertical height issue which was fixed by replacing a capacitor. The PCB worked perfect. Working parts, I don't want
them, off to Ebay they go! They sell for more than what I paid for the cab, and I still have a cab and working monitor. In the meantime I notice some
green paint coming through on the white cabinet. A little more research determines this to be a Taito cabinet. Ok, no big deal. I start to peel off the
nasty golf overlay on the control panel and I spy with my little eye a mostly complete Elevator Action overlay still intact!
Hmmmmm.....now this cabinet
is just screaming to be an Elevator Action again. Who am I to argue? I get the marquee, bezel and PCB for an awesome price and get them installed. The PCB
ended up having a sound problem and video memory problem. The were easily fixed by replacing 1 chip each. Bingo! A working and restored Elevator Action.
Good Deal!
