Pick Date: 5/26/12    Dual linked Rush the Rocks became a reality. This was a saturday, just like any other saturday. I was minding my own business, doing the normal family thing and I get a phone call from local collector and KLOV member, Keith. He asked if I wanted to buy his Rush the Rock. Of course, the next question would be "Why are you selling?"

Other than being the lucky recipient of a 12 to 14 foot skeeball recently, Keith was gearing up to pick up his grail. This was a 7 foot long monster cab of a Roadblasters cockpit. And Keith, much like myself, is out of gameroom space. Keith also got a Crazy Taxi recently as well already has a Cruisin USA. That meant Rush the Rock was on the chopping block, and I was the lucky customer. After picking up his Road Blasters cockpit, Keith brought over his daughter and a few friends while delivering the Rush The Rock. After unloading the game, we could wait to hooked up the new game to my existing Rush the Rock for dual linked play. This is something neither of us have played and was eager to do. I dug up a spare router and some extra long network cable. After some trial and error with the cabinet settings, we were finally playing head to head. This was awesome, simply awesome.

My biggest problem with this new game acquisition? Space. Out of space. However, I wasn't going to let this stop the purchase. No way. I determined that the Mame cabinet would be moved out of the gameroom and into my 13 year old son's room. He grew up playing the Mame machine and it used to be in his room before I ever had a gameroom. He eagerly welcomed back an old friend. With the Mame cabinet leaving a gaping hole in the gameroom, there was 30 inches of space to move in a new game. Now, I couldn't just move the Rush into the empty Mame spot. Those games needed to be side by side. Furthermore, for some time I had been wanting to rearrange Drivers Row into a single long line, going across the southern wall of the arcade.

The next day I spent most of the day after church moving around 18 games, half the collection...BY MYSELF. This included all 500 pound driving games, the 700 pound Revolution X and the 1000 pound Sega Rally Deluxe. Again...I did this BY MYSELF. The Results? They are stunning. Absolutely stunning. It actually looks like I have more room in the gameroom now. The first picture below shows the reorganized drivers row with the new Rush The Rocks. Now who wants to come over for some head to head racing?
